Found that the $269 Costco 10x20 ft carport is currently available

If anyone is looking for one of the "Costco" carports, they are currently available at select Costco stores for $269 (item #781893). Direct from the manufacturer (Sorara, on Amazon) is $600. I haven't seen any at our regional Costco store for several years, but I was able to borrow one last year for a shade structure for the Hushville Library thanks to Annie and Comfort Crew. It worked very well for our needs. I was alerted by a family member who saw one and sent a photo of the item number in a bay area Costco store, but when I looked online the only product available locally and online was a replacement top (made by Sorara). It turns out that what is offered online varies according to which products are made available by region. So we were basically blind to what was available elsewhere and we needed their item number to be able to inquire on the phone. If you are interested and do not find it online, you can call them with the item number and ask what the nearest stores are with inventory. I found them in a Costco store less than 1 hr drive away. It's very sturdy and snaps together easily, but the box is long and heavy (165 lbs), and unpacked it just barely fit into an SUV.

Hi

was is windproof on the playa? I read so many bad stories about wind and shade structure 🫣

thanks for you help 🙂

David.

This particular structure is quite sturdy.  The trick with everything on playa is how well you anchor it.  I would avoid the cheap popup shade though; they are often found mangled into metal tumbleweeds by week end.
