Sadly, The Hushville Library as we all know and love it won't be back this year. But, we can all help to keep the tradition of literacy and fuckery alive. This year, with the help of Hushvillians just like you, we're bringing the Hushville Silent Library to the Playa. What can you do to help, you ask? (I know you did, I heard you). We need two things:
- Volunteer librarians (for two-hour shifts)
- Books. Books. Books
First, sign up for a shift on The Hushville Silent Library Shiftboard on the website. You'll have a blast! If not, we'll give you a free book just for trying.
Next, you know those old books you have laying around? The ones you've read a dozen times or the ones you got for gifts and never even opened? Pack them up and bring them to Burning Man with you. You can donate them directly to the library when you get there.
Bring something YOU would like to read—nobody is interested in DOS for Dummies or your old History of the Germanic Languages textbook from college. Think—exciting fiction, kids books, gender studies, self-help, those quirky and peculiar books you bought when you were going through that one phase.
If you have any questions, email us at events@hushville.org. We have all the answers.
