Volunteering @ Arctica
Ice Soiree 2018?
Hello fellow Hushvillians, I hope you might consider adding a volunteer shift at Arctica with fellow member of our theme camp. If you’ve done this before you know what a blast this can be and it is the coolest place on the playa.
I wasn’t ticketed at the time so I missed getting our camp registered for a full “theme camp staffing” event this year, but there is still an opportunity to sign up together. Right now trying to register for a shift is complicated by many the spots being reserved for ‘theme camps’ that did register last month.
On the 24th of July all spots unfilled by theme camps will be released to any volunteers so if we act swiftly on Tuesday we could get block of openings together. Years ago I could reserve a full shift for us, things change now this is done individually.
On Tuesday, July 24th we’ll review availability and suggest shifts with the most openings and we can try to sign up individually to work together.
There are a couple of things to do to get ready for registering for this activity:
“To streamline this process, please make sure every individual volunteer that is participating has filled out their BURNER PROFILE and VOLUNTEER FORM (remember to select “Arctica Ice Sales” in the volunteer form!)
Log into: Shiftboard & practice navigating the web page. You may have to exercise a ‘forgot password’ to initiate a new ‘Shiftboard’ password per the Volunteer Walkthrough noted below.
You will notice that some shifts are only available to Theme Camp Members. They will be reserved for theme camp sign ups until Monday, July 23rd. If you are interested in any of these shifts, please check back on Tuesday, July 24th! Available shifts will be released to all volunteers at that time.
Signup Instructions:
- Login to Shiftboard using your Burner Profile login info
- Select 'Calendar' in the menu
- Change the month to August
- Find an open shift you would like to work, and click 'Take This Shift'

Hello All,
Not sure of everyone's plans but I just volunteered for the Tuesday shift at 2:45pm - 6:15pm at the Center Camp location. I did look at Wednesday but the times left didn't work for me. :-/ I'm crazy excited as this was one of the funnest parts of my Burning Man experience: music, meeting people, helping people and keeping cool (slinging/carrying ice lets you stand right next to those ice trucks). Whether or not we meet, enjoy (or f**k - whichever suits your fancy) your burn!
